Re: [FW-1] How to block instant messenger traffic



I don't think that is what Christopher is after.  That would just block
email going to those sites.

What I think he wants is to stop a user from going to hotmail.com, AOL's web
interface to email, etc.

You could possibly use one of the filter programs.  If you can identify the
hosts used for those web based mail sites, you can block those.  It will be
an endless battle.

This is one of those that needs to be a corporate policy and then enforced.

Do an nslookup set type=mx and get a list of AOL's mail servers.  Create
a
group with those objects.  Block SMTP to that group.  Allow http.
