We are using a FW-1 CP2000 (4.1) SP3 with 6 NIC. 2 of them have different Class C REAL IP Address. 3 of them have Class B REAL IP Address. The last one has Class A PRIVATE IP Address. This FW supports over 50 Networks (apart from the Internet) and we have absolutely NO problems so far. IMHO everything has to do with the way you have the Routing done. We are NOT using RIP, we just use static routes. No matter what, you can't have 2 default gateways on one machine. You just can't do that. 1 Default Gateway (Internet) and Static Routes (DMZ, LAN, etc). At what point does your vendor recommend you to use PRIVATE Class B IP Address? -----Original Message----- From: BY [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2002 2:21 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [FW-1] IP Address for FW Checkpoint Server Dear all, My vendor recommends me to use private class B IP Address on Firewall Checkpoint which is not convincing me at this stage because of my following belief:- 1. Firewall (as the primary interface with outside world for my internal network), it needs to use registered Class C IP address. 2. If possible it is good setup to have 3 NIC on the Firewall. 1 NIC IP to interface directly with the public network with configured gateway address ; 1 NIC IP as DMZ IP without configuring gateway IP address ; 1 NIC IP to talk to internal network without configuring gateway IP address. Don't you think?
