This is usually caused because RPC is not running. In order for OpenWin or
CDE to run, they need the RPC services.

Either:
Re-enable /etc/rc2.d/S71rpc
Disable /etc/rc2.d/S99dtlogin (or whatever script launches X) and use the
command line
Install xfree and a different window manager that does not require RPC.
