This is what checkpoint say's:

To enable two static NAT servers in the same subnet to access each other
using their valid IP addresses, it is necessary to create objects and
add security policy rules and NAT rules.
For testing with ping, it may be necessary to check the "Accept ICMP" in
the Properties Setup, and setting it to "Before Last". It also may be
necessary to clear the arp cache of the servers before testing.

This has always been the case. CheckPoint can not send traffic out an
interface and have it come back into the same interface as is the case
with static NAT and two server on the same network trying to talk via
external addresses.

I do not remember the technical specifics, but it does not work.
