[FW-1] fwx_backw

OK, long time lurker, first time poster....

Having a problem with connections being dropped...
here is the error message:::

Jan 14 07:16:38 rdcsd1a unix: FW-1: fw_xlate_set_tables: ld_set to
fwx_back_tab failed
Jan 14 07:16:38 rdcsd1a unix: FW-1: fw_init_xlation_tables:
fw_xlate_set_tables failed

Here is what I know:::
        This is the NAT translation at work...It is failing due to
connection limits...
        My connections are at the default 25K [no intent on changing this]

Here is what I would like to know:::
        What/how/&why is fwx_back different than fwx_front...
        What is fwx_back ....looking for a better description [actually
can't find one right now...]
        ie: why is the count so much higher for _backw than _forw
                localhost             fwx_alloc                   8187
2875
                localhost             fwx_backw                   8188
12418
                localhost             fwx_forw                    8189
3766

earlier in the day fwx_backw was hitting the 25K mark...it suddenly tapered
off & then stayed around the "norm" of 12K...
Looking for possible causes...www searches indicate either _legit_ traffic,
trojans, or possilbe scans...I would think a trojan wouldn't taper off
[could be wrong]...scans are a possibility...didn't get a sniffer there in
time to say...but "my gut" doesn't think this is it [it lasted for 5 hours &
was intermentent]....

Thoughts, comments, RTFM links...
Thanks,
TroyC
