I'm setting up FW-1 version 4.1 with management on a separate UNIX system running Solaris 7. When trying to get firewall status I get the error '/dev/fw0 no such file or directory'. I have used the suggested method from phoneboy to recreate lost or corrupted /dev/fw0. This worked until I got to the command ' /usr/sbin/add_drv fw' which responded with 'response driver (fw) is already installed. I checked in the /devices/pseudo directory and there is a 'fw@0:fw' system file. I suspect that with this file I will not be able to recreate a new /dev/fw0. The question I have is has anyone manually deleted the 'fw@0:fw' file in /devices/pseudo and then tried recreating the /dev/fw0 successfully? If not, then will I need to reinstall the firewall software on the management system. The only problem I have is trying to get status. I can load the firewall system and manage two other firewall's without any (apparent) problems. I'd appreciate suggestions to resolve this issue. Thanks, Dave Pristavec [email protected]
