Re: [FW-1] VPN accelerator

Rory,

As far as I am aware, the VPN accelerator card is not necessary to run
VPN's; the card is used to off-load VPN processes from the CPU to the card.
If your machine has a VPN card in it already, you should be able to go into
Voyager and add that package.

Subject: [FW-1] VPN accelerator
Date: Mon, 17 Dec 2001 11:07:56 +0000

Hi

I've been having problems seeting up a VPN to a 3Com superstack fw.
I am running a nokia 440 (ipso 3.4.1) with CP fw-1 4.1.
I then tried with the help of friend (thanks sam) to vpn to his nokia
running identical software and using ike encryption - shared secret. This
again did not work.
Upon closer inspection, my Nokia seems not to have been loaded with it's
vpn accelerator driver package (/var/dev/luna0 driver).
I think therefore that I need to enable my vpn-1 accelerator card, but I am
not sure how to do this and do not know if this is possible without it
affecting my firewall with it already up and running.
Can anybody shed light on this?

Thanks in advance

regards,

Rory Stewart
