What about setting up an internal firewall?

I'm afraid that you may need to take drastic actions, i.e. Fdisk, format,
reinstall... As a interim step, to help prevent further damage, find out the
ports that the sniffers and probes talk on and block their access to/from
the outside world. After that, if you want to avoid the fdisk solution,
talk to your antivirus vendors, intrustion detection vendors, and other
security sources to see what help they can offer. If you don't have
antivirus software installed on servers, desktops, and gateways, get it
asap! Implement policies about outside software and files to help prevent
further infiltration. Just a start, but as they say, "A journey of a
thousand miles begins with the first step."

Greetings all

I have just started with a new company and to my horror discovered that the
network has been infested with sniffers and probes. Conventual anti virus
software does not detect these encoutered, any ideas how I could go about
combating these bastards????

I have been able to find out whre most of them are, but failed to get rid of
them.
