Roman, The latest CP version is indeed NG (aka 5.0), 4.1 will still be supported for 18 months after the release of FP1 (Feature Pack 1 - the new name of their Service Packs). Provider-1 is another products, it is kind of a Management Server, but for big customers or ISP having to manage a lot of different Firewalls and having separate security rules bases and so on (that's it in short - very short) Met vriendelijke groeten - Bien a vous - Kind regards Guy ROELANDTS EMEA GS Internet Expertise Centre - CCSA & CCSE Compaq Software Engineer - Belgium E-mail : [email protected] Tel: +32(02)729.77.44 (options 3 - 3 - 1) Fax: +32(02)729.77.65 ===================================================================== This message may contain confidential and/or proprietary information, and is intended only for the person/entity to whom it was originally addressed. Hi list Sorry for stupid question I think I'm lost with terminology :-) Is there any difference between Checkpoint NG (Next Generation) and Provider-1? NG seems to be next step after FW1 4.1, right? What is Provider-1 in this case? Our company uses Checkpoint FW-1 4.1. Since Checkpoint stopped with providing support for everything prior to 4.1 (BTW what about supporting 4.1? Still valid for some period of time? :-) our top management suggested to upgrade to NG. So, Provider-1 is the latest version?, or? ... :-) Second question: Is there any way to upgrade to NG from FW-1 4.1, or everything should be installed from scratch? Looking forward to hear from you.
