Are you able to see the wecome message? What is the connection related logging?

Do you know what is FTP passive-mode?

I am unable to FTP from certain sites (Gateway.com, IBM.com, and HP.com) and I have 2 possible causes:

 

1. The welcome message on the hosts FTP site is long
2. The Firewall is not allowing reverse DNS lookup.

 

I am using Checkpoint FW-1 SP5 on a Windows 2000 Server.  I can FTP from other sites.

 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
