I wanted to send this to get a Cisco question off the CP alias ASAP. 1. Please call Cisco and confirm your serial number (sh ver) of your firewall. Confirm whatever defects that we could have with TAC. 2. Is this a PIX 515 or 506? Both of the units have manufacturing problems that Cisco is resolving now. With these, Cisco will help to get a replacement or repair. 506 - power supply problem that causes firewall to literally turn off at random times. 515 - this firewall has MANY DEFECTS. Some defects have been identified, others are still being correctly ID'd. Field Notice: PIX 515 and 506 Hang Updated October 30, 2001 October 18, 2001 Field Notice: PIX 515 NMI Exception Crash Updated October 30, 2001 October 18, 2001 Field Notice: PIX 506 Power Reset Updated October 30, 2001 October 18, 2001 http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/770/52.html THIS IS CCO, YOU MAY NOT HAVE ACCESS TO IT IF YOU DO NOT HAVE CCO ACCESS. 1. Check this http link against your serial numbers on the units for Ethernet controller issues. 2. Start a syslog to a Unix server OR Cisco PIX Syslog Utility (NT). Try to find out if you are getting a traceback on the PIX OS.
