Re: [FW-1] Nokia IP110 & IPSO update

The problem is that the boot manager won't load. All I get when starting the
bootmanager is "loading bootmanager..." and then is hangs. Reboot is the
only remedy.

What puzzles me even more is that when I boot on the old kernel (3.3.3), it
reports that the boot manager is older than itself, something which I find
strange.

The 3.4.1 ipso.tgz image for the 110s would install the new bootloader IF
necessary, unlike the 650s where you had to do it yourself. My 110s are for
SOHO use so they were actually the first to get upgraded and I haven't had
an issue.

If you reboot and drop into the bootmanager do a "printenv" and send the
output back. It sound like the 3.3 bootloader may be trying to load the
3.4.1 image.

Subject: [FW-1] Nokia IP110 & IPSO update

Since there seem to be no explicit malinglist for the Nokia IP hardware
I'll
try to post this here...

We've just tried to upgrade a Nokia IP110 with the IPSO 3.4.1 release
(from
3.3.3). After the upgrade, the box no longer boots properly. During
boot, it
will fail to load he boot manager (just stops after "Loading
bootmanager.....")

As I kept the old IPSO image it is possible to boot the box using the
old
kernel image. However, as Checkpoint 4.1 SP5 requires the new IPSO
image, we
are quite lost as to what we need to do (Nokia want to charge us $1000
to
solve the issue)

During the IPSO install, a new boot manager was installed. (No document
on
Nokia suggests that a new boot manager was required for this release on
the
IP110 platform).

Anyone had the same problem?

Booting on the new IPSO image, will produce an output like this:

[kernel] symtab c040c000, sym_start c040c004, sym_end c0442e5c
[kernel] sym_size 4932, str_size 4d6ec
