This is a multipart message in MIME format. --=_alternative 0045A01280256AE8_= Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Hi Sorry for this email but I am not getting anywhere from other sources - please email me directly if you have any ideas rather than clutter up the list ;-) ...Have new laptops/docking stations - Dell Latitude C600 with C/Port II dock stations (contains 3COM 3C920 net card). C600 running Windows 95. These machines had problems getting DHCP addresses - it would eventually pick it up but too late from the users' point of view because they didn;t get a network login screen presented at boot-up. Dell didn't help and didn't want to know (surprised - NOT!). Found a work around on our Cisco 3548 switches - turn on Port Fast mode. However can't find a workaround on the our 3COM Superstack II 10Mb switches - tried what I thought might be equivalent - Fast Start Mode but this has no effect. Couldn't find fix on web and 3COM aren't being helpful as the NICs are Dell OEM (arghhhhh!!). Curiously the C600s with Win2k are fine - looks related to Win 95 but we are not quite ready to fully rollout Win2k yet....... Any ideas anyone ? p.s. Before I get the suggestion - yes upgrading to Win2k and/or all Cisco switches would be nice but not likely until next year.... ;-) TIA Tim #********************************************************************** This message is intended solely for the use of the individual or organisation to whom it is addressed.
