Go to www.phoneboy.com and search the FAQs for 'backup'. Read the topic titled "What files should I backup?" Simply transfer the named files from the old fw to the new one, while the fw services are stoppped. -----Original Message----- From: Sim, CT (Chee Tong) [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, October 12, 2001 1:25 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [FW-1] how to transfer a conf file to a blank new FW?? Hi.. What is the correct method to transfer a configuration file from a old FW server to another complete new FW server. Let say I have a conf file in $FWDIR/conf/XXX.pf and XXX.W. I tried to copy them to new another FW server's $FWDIR/conf/ dir and compile it but it doesn't work, as for the new server, I did not define all the objects that I defined in my old FW server. What should I do in order to transfer the configuration over? Do I have to transfer all the network object over?
