Probably see buying CP as supporting Israeli occupation of parts of Jordan, Syria etc. Plus they are unsure whether CP/governments have created 'backdoors' for surveillance - seems a little paranoid here but who knows..... There appears to be some/strong opposition to using Checkpoint in the UAE given it's country of origin, and if I was a pitching solution for sale there I would include different options with the likes of Gauntlet etc The impression I gained was that not many companies in the UAE would consider using Checkpoint - maybe they might even be upset if you offered it as a solution? -----Original Message----- From: CryptoTech [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 01 October 2001 16:15 To: Darrin Johansen Cc: Allan Pratt; [email protected] Subject: Re: [FW1] Firewall-1 and use in Arab countries Darrin, There are no regulations concerning export to the United Arab Emirates, except for such organizations explicitly banned by the U.S. Treasury department, or the Commerce Department. I have had knowledge of many arab organizations purchasing firewall-1, with no concern for the writers race. Lets face it, Israel and US go pretty much hand-in-hand as far as Anti-Semitic arabs are concerned. Do not recommend to Libya, syria, lebanon, iraq, afganistan, iran, cuba. The reason I ask is that I will be on a security architecture project for an Arab bank based in the middle east. Should I refrain from recommending Firewall-1??
