You are not using csh nor tcsh. So why do you expect setenv to work?

RedHat comes with bash by default. I.e. instead of setenv, you have to
use set. Have a look at man bash to learn about the syntax. Or, change
your default shell to /bin/tcsh (use chsh to do it) and see man tcsh to
learn about it.

Oh, and learn something about unix, too; preferably *before* you start
using it under your firewall.
