RE: [FW1] Firewall crashes

Hello,

cpmad stands for checkpoint malicious activitiy detection. In other words
its a little ids which can detect a few general attacks, like land attack,
smurf, syn attack, port scanning ...

It's configured via the cmpad_conf file. There you can configure how
sensitive it. If you increase the sensitivity it will use more memory. If
you decrease the sensitivity it will use less. You can also define how much
memory it may use in total. If it needs more memory then was allocated it
will exit.

My suggestion would be to decrease the memory allocation or increase
physical memory in your system.

Regards,

Werner

Subject: [FW1] Firewall crashes

We have been having problems with our Firewall crashing about once a week
but there does not seem to be any events or consistent timing on when it
dies. I have noticed that there is a process running called cpmad.exe that
seems to continue to use more memory. I suspect that this process eventually
uses all the available memory and the server crashes. Unfortunately I have
never been on the machine before it goes down and there is nothing in the
event log. Does anyone know what this process does and why it would continue
to use memory?
