Re: [FW1] Linux not working correctly...

Ryan,
I've seen those errors on my 3Com nics for as long as I can remember. Trying a different driver will sometimes clear it up. 3Com's driver is at http://support.3com.com/infodeli/tools/nic/linuxdownloads.htm. Another driver is at http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/#3c59x-bc The driver's page at http://www.scyld.com/network/vortex.html lists that error as a typical problem and says it's normally a Duplex mismatch, so you may want to check that too.

Good Luck,
Mark Ingles

I have FW1 SP4 installed on Linux (Redhat 7.0 Kernel 2.2.19) and when I
start passing traffic, I get the following error in dmesg:
eth0: Transmit Error, Tx status register 82
eth1: Transmit Error, Tx status register 82

I have 3com 3C905-C Tornado cards and they are set to Full Duplex (I am
pretty sure they are).

Also, with the firewall installed, I get about 30-50K/second downloads.
With the firewall removed, I get 150-250K/second downloads. Is this part of
the Transmit errors above?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Ryan
