[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] RE: [FW1] What is wong with this mailinglist!!!!
Sorry, but the real problem is stupid Microsoft Out of Office "Assistant". If they had implemented it properly, like the vacation message on UNIX systems, we wouldn't have any of this crap. How is a mailing list program supposed to distinguish an out of office message from one with real content with 100% accuracy? There's no standard for that, such as a standard header. Real vacation programs respond only to e-mail that is specifically addressed to the recipient. You should never see such a message from me, because messages from this list aren't addressed to me. They're addressed to fw-1-mailinglist... Now, it shouldn't be beyond Microsoft's capabilities to do the same thing. Right? :-) Of course, it's closed source software, and their priorities lie elsewhere, so I guess we just have to deal with it like we deal with SPAM. Just ignore it and get on with life. There are plenty of more serious annoyances that need to be dealt with.
