Robert: It means that you have a FireWall-1 Internet Gateway, 100-node license. It does not include a license for any encryption. You may, however, upgrade this to the equivalent VPN-1 Internet Gateway product, or add a (second) license for the add-on encryption module. In either case, you would also have to upgrade to version 4.1 (2000), as a reseller will not be able to sell you a 4.0 license. If you had purchased Software Subscription, and it was in place at the time of 4.1 release, you probably were already "upgraded" to a 4.1 license, but only in CheckPoint's database, not physically. If so, the upgrade will cost you nothing. It sounds like this is the case, since the Cert Key gave you a license with a CK-x x xxxx -- that is a 4.1 license! (Congratulations!) You need to get the 4.1/2000 media from your reseller, and upgrade to 4.1. You already have the 4.1 license. Now all you need is an encryption license ... When I do "fw.exe ver" it says CheckPoint VPN-1 & Firewall-1 version 4.0 Build 431 VPN+DES+Strong) When I do a "fw.exe printlic" it says Type Expiraton Ver Features x.x.x.x Never 4.0 std med 100 I'm guessing here but does "std" mean DES and not 3DES, not sure what "med" means and I imagine 100 is the number of users. I generated a license key on the CheckPoint website features are cpfw-fig-100-v41 then CK-(a bunch of alphanumeric characters I'm not sure if I should post here) I guess I'm not sure if we are actually licensed for 3DES. I assumed (silly me) that we were when I did FW.EXE Ver, but I'm not so sure considering the output of the printlic. Then again my software subscription is enabled to download US Authorized VPN+Strong, VPN+DES, VPN, and Non-VPN Encryption access. Why would I be given access to VPN+Strong downloads if I'm not licensed for the feature. Can anyone more knowledgeable than I please clarify this. Thanks.
