RE: [FW1] DMZ advantages




Although I can fully agree with most of what's
been said by other posters, I have one note of my own:

I would never, ever place my mail-server in a DMZ.
A mail relay, yes, but not the mail server itself.

Of course, large organizations will probably only have
a relay or routing server of some sort at their internet
access point, but smaller setups might have their one or two 
mail servers directly connected to the Internet.

In such cases, placing the server on the LAN, and using the secure 
SMTP server in FW-1, would be better, IMHO.
