RE: [FW1] Installing Nokia IPSO on other platform/PC

We "tested" this particular issue about a year ago. It appeared at the time
that there is a chip with some sort of key embedded in the Nokia box. On a
440 it appeared as a card with a blank faceplace (eg no connectors). We
attempted to install on a x86 platform (using same basic hardware as a 440)
and it installed fine, but would fail at boot complaining about something
relating to a key... Hope this helps.

Thanks,

--Tim

P.S. If there are any Nokia owned employees watching the list, when are you
going to convince management to open source older versions of IPSO? ;)

The quad cards are made by znyx. It is possible but not legal to install
IPSO on anything other than the Nokia (or checkpoint oem) box.

Let's put it this way ... the IP440 is a standard Intel 440BX M/brd,
standard everything, + a Quad Network card (not sure of the manufacturer on
this one).

In theory it should work ...

Hi all.

Has anyone tried installing the IPSO image on something other than a Nokia
IP box?

I suppose my underlying question is how much is the Nokia IP hardware like a
PC? Can IPSO be installed on any other x86 hardware?

Paul.
