RE: [FW1] beginner's question on DNS

Hi John,

I believe you are asking how to get your FW-1 to resolve hostnames. I agree
with Matthias and would absolutely not run a DNS server on the FW itself.
If you need instruction on just getting the FW to resolve hostnames then
shoot me an Email and I'll explain how. Are you running Solaris, NT, or
what ?

HTH,

Duke

Hi,
I don't recommend at all to install a DNS-Server on a Firewall. FW-1 doesn't
include
a Nameserver.
But you can install a Nameserver in the DMZ and set rules for Nameservice by
accepting the group dns (53/udp and 53/tcp) from or to this Nameserver.
Hope it helps
Matthias
