[FW1] Firewall throughput

Hello all.

I'm running a pretty standard installation NT4-sp6a, FW1-4.1-sp3 on a Compaq
Proliant p3-500 with 256meg RAM. a local net, 2 DMZ's and VPN's to 3 other
branches. We have a 10Mbit Internet connection and we have about 2500-3500
connections at the same time.

Now can anyone tell me, why I can't seem to download with more than about
50kbit/sek? If I go outside the firewall I get a download at about
1.1Mbit/sek.

I've tuned the firewall according to CheckPoint guidelines. Is there a
parameter i can set to define throughput?

I don't run floodgate-1 by BTW.

Hope some out there can help me out.
