[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] [FW1] Blocking Triangle Boy and HTTP Reflectors with FW-1 ?
Greetings Any thoughts around blocking triangle boy through FW-1 ? It appears it is a peer-to-peer app, like Napster, which would allow any user with an HTTP connection access to restricted content by pointing to a "reflector". they claim on their website: "Triangle Boy is a free peer-to-peer application that bypasses firewalls and other mechanisms that attempt to block access to SafeWeb. Users who are currently blocked from directly accessing SafeWeb (or any other site) will be able to access it indirectly through any other computer running Triangle Boy" from: https://www.safeweb.com/ (click Triangle Boy link) I'd be curious about other readers viewpoints on security around these applications with respect to firewalls; i'm sure the apps will evolve in sophistication and methods over time whilst I cannot see firewalls in their present shape being able to deal. It seems a new thinking will be required for next gen firewalls - dynamic adaptability is what i'm thinking. Any thoughts? rgds karim i.
