Just a suggestion, but it looks you're running in some timeout situation,
probably on DNS, ident or nbname? You could stop the timeouts to reject
(not drop) ident and nbname.

Hello,
we have FW1 4.1 on Solaris 2.6, and want to setup
an Interscan Viruswall 3.6
server for SMTP.
We have setup the following
rule in the FW:
ANY
mailhost.mydomain
smtp->InboundMail Accept
We have defined tha
antivirus server object, and the SMTP-with-resource
object has the following
options:
-mail server: mailhost.mydomain
-CVP: server:
antivirus-server Read/Write
All messages send to the maihost.domain
pass through the FW, go to the
Antivirus, are scanned if needed, and go to
the mailhost.mydomain in the
right way.
The problem becomes at the moment
the mail client tries to establish a
connection to the mailhost.server. In
this case, the connection delays since
more than a minute sice it can send
the mail.
In the case we do a telnet connection to the port 25 of
mailhost.domain,
every thing seems to work fine, because immediately appears
the FW SMTP
secure server banner.
In case we disable the FW rule, direct
connections to mailhost.mydomain work
fine.
Any idea about what is
happening? Thank
you.
