It's the everlasting discussion about: a) who knows what an employee might do using company equipment that the company might get sued for. b) who knows what opinions an employee might express using company equipment that the company might not like. c) who knows how much time an employee might "waste" on things that are not strictly controlled in their employment contract (such as arranging to meet with friends outside office hours). d) And best, god forbid, the it could happen that MSN opens up a good number of wormholes and spreads viruses like there was no tomorrow. Sorry, couldn't resist it, but some of the reasons for not allowing services are at times "interesting". ttfn, Alexander "Nicholas Eustace" <[email protected]> writes: > Why do you want to stop it, are there vulnerabilities associated with MSN or > its ports > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of > Bingham, John > Sent: Saturday, April 21, 2001 2:59 AM > To: 'David Crousset'; [email protected] > Subject: RE: [FW1] MSN Messenger > > > > http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q278/8/87.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=g > n&FR=0&qry=msn%20messenger&rnk=6&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=WIN2000 says > messaging outbound on port 1863, IANA calls it MSNP > > John > > -----Original Message----- > From: David Crousset [mailto:[email protected]] > Sent: Friday, April 20, 2001 11:11 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [FW1] MSN Messenger > > > > Hi all, > > does anyone know how to block access to MSN Messenger?
