RE: [FW1] Logging issues

Title: [FW1] Logging issues
Have you considered possibly running a cron job that does the fwswitch for you?  Maybe gzip em up and move them to another location so you can pursue them later if the need arises?

Just my .02 cents.

Subject: [FW1] Logging issues

I inherited a Checkpoint firewall from a previous admin. One of our nagging problems that he could not solve is an issue regarding the firewall logs filling and crashing the system. We are running Solaris 5.7 and are using checkpoint 4.1. The file that gets full is in /var/adm/messages. Luckily we can usually catch this before it crashes and do a fw logswitch, but this is not an acceptable solution. Have any of you ran into a similar problem, and what do you suggest?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer,

David Frank.
