Yes it will. The keys are generated using the random number generator, I guess, or some other similar process. The password you enter is only a way to securely exchange those keys over the network, and for initial authentication to the management. No two keys are the same. Now the first firewall can talk to the management station (I did the putkeys). The second firewall has the same IP address and sits off the segment unless the first one dies (in other words two firewalls one license). Now the problem is this, once I did the putkeys with the first firewall, the second will not allow me to push a policy to (when I bring it on line and take the first down) it unless I exchange keys with it as well, will this cause me to loose control with the first firewall? Thanks for any help Dave ============================================================================ ==== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ============================================================================ ==== ================================================================================ To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================================================ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Apr 2001 14:40:40 -0400 From: "Goldoff, Erik" <[email protected]> Subject: [FW1] SMC Barricade Anyone have any experience with setting up a VPN tunnel between CheckPoint VPN-1 and an SMC Barricade broadband router?
