RE: [FW1] Managing Nokia 650 from Nokia 330
Title: Managing Nokia 650 from Nokia 330
Juan,
Thank
you for the response, Both boxes are same IPSO, same fw version,
same service pack. Both will be running the firewall module, the 330 will
be running firewall plus management. Sounds like firewall plus management is
asking toooo much, Is this why they are saying that this is a non standard
method?
The 330 is
a recent purchase, little more CPU and MEM than last years. I don't
let the log files get big, and currently logswitch daily then
load to Oracle elsewhere, less than 100k records daily. When the 650 goes
production I expect to see about 100k records from each box. The boxes are
talking 100Mb to each other through a crossover for management of the
650.

If the 330 is going to
be solely a management station, then it shouldn't be a problem so long as the
IP330 is at a rev above or equal to the IP650. You don't necessarily
need to bring the NT into the picture unless your worried about performance by
the 330 as it will be logging for the 650
also.

We are attempting to manage a Nokia IP650 from a
Nokia IP330. I am being told that this is a non standard method. That the
standard method is to put the management module on an NT box, connect to
that box with the GUI client, then push the policy to both Nokia boxes from
the NT box. I don't mind adding the NT box to the whole mix, I just want to
do this right. Does anyone have a preference either way ? Are there any
problems one way or the other?
Thanks in advance
Andrew
