Re: [FW1] telnet banners

If you're taking telnet security seriously, you should have disabled it by now and gone with a secure shell, or at least modified the rulebase so telnet is only accessible from a chosen management GUI somewhere on the inside.
Modify /etc/inetd.conf and put a -h after the telnetd command.  This should strip the banner off completely (it does in full versions of BSD, anyway!).

Subject: [FW1] telnet banners

I have a Nokia IP440 Firewall appliance.  Is there anyway to turn off the default telnet banner?
Right now it states    "IPSO  firewall name"
I would like to change it or delete it is possible.

Thanks.
