To switch logs on a remote module, you run the command fw logswitch -h <firewall> on the MANAGEMENT station, where <firewall> is the name of the firewall module. You can them delete the switched log from the firewall (or do anything else with it that is required by your site policies;-) If the logs are ONLY on the firewall module, then use fw logswitch -h <firewall> - to switch logs, and transfer them to the management station. ( Using + instead of - will copy them, leaving a copy of the log in the firewall's logs directory as well as a copy on the management station). The name on the management station will look like <firewall>.<timestamp>.log hope this helps T -- Timothy Frost mailto:[email protected] EDS New Zealand Fax: +64-4-495-0473 8 Gilmer Terrace Phone: +64-4-495-0504 P O Box 3647 Wellington New Zealand -----Original Message----- From: ns dillon [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2001 5:43 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [FW1] yet another problem..... It is not a problem maintaining the logs on the Management module as the "fw logswitch" command works fine... My problem is on the maintanance of the Log Files on the Firewall module.... The "fw logswitch" command does not work.. Message given is No matter which directory i run it from it is still the same... I need your help on this one.. how do i make it work and what is the impact if i manually remove the log files by using "rm fw.log"....
