1) Highly stable. Any issues we had were easily resolved. We run it on 2 NT4.0 boxes. We've been pretty happy with it's stability. 2) I've had mixed experiences with their tech support people. We've been using checkpoint for 2 years. Most issues had to do with Securemote, not the FW itself which has been very reliable. It's basically like any other support, you just need to get on the phone with someone who knows what they're talking about. 3) This software is pretty intuitive, and shouldn't frustrate you. If the security of your company relies on this, however, you're going to want to get training, or a consultant to install it and show you the basics. 4) Yes, you'll be able to see what your users are doing in the Checkpoint Log Viewer, by IP address, and if you choose, you can make users authenticate to the firewall to get out to the internet. Then you can just see what users are going where, instead of trying to find out who has what IP address. 5) No major gripes. Checkpoint is always trying to improve their product. One caveat, everyone's network is different. And in the case of Securemote, everyone's client machine is really different. If you want to someday do redundancy, content management, load balancing, ect... you might run into problems. Each of these has it's own issues. Once people throw up a firewall, they often realize they need other 'pieces' for what they want to do, so plan things out accordingly.
