RE: [FW1] FireWall-1 and Dual CPU machine



My understanding is that the main FW-1 driver is single-threaded, so it
does not take advantage of additional CPUs.  Other minor CP processes
might be multi-threaded, but not enough to make a big difference.

I've read that the latest SP3 can be configured to use additional
processors as psuedo-VPN-accelerators.  In other words, you can
configure it to offload the encryption task to the additional
processors.  This can't be done if you have a real HW VPN accelerator
card installed.  Obviously, this only helpful if you are using VPN-1,
but for VPN users it could be quite useful.
