Re: [FW1] any CP users on HP-UX ???
Hi,
I have installed fw-1 2.x, 3.x and 4.x on hp-ux several times.
For HP-UX 11.0, you gona have some problem to do some NATing.....because
in this version, you can add some route and bind some ip address at the
same time.
ex:
route add public_ip internal_ip
arp -s mac_address public_ip
If you try theses two command you gona have an error.
I open a call with HP, and they know the problem, they reproduce the
problem, but they cannot find an answer.....
Anyway, if you does'nt need to do some NAT, the installation of the
product fw-1 4.1 on HP-UX (you need the second disk of checkpoint for fw-1
4.1) is perform like any other product than you install on your server.
Basicly, you need to do a full installation, installed the latast patch
and begin the installation !!!
pfs_mountd &
pfsd 4 &
pfs_mount -t rrip /dev/dsk/c1t2d0 /SD_CDROM
and
swinstall -s /SD_CDROM/hpux/FireWall-1
If you refer to your manual, you would find theses command also.
Here is some web site where you can find some free download:

We have been running on HPUX 10.x for a few years

catastophic to date. I sure hope they will keep supporting HPUX
as I
would like to keep my wonderous standardization intact.
* Make sure you have applied all of the HPUX patches before installing
/ upgrading
* Backup before doing anything
* Then backup again (we have gone back many times after failures)

Subject: [FW1] any CP users
on HP-UX ???
Hi,
We have tried to install CP FW4-11 on our HP-UX (ver. 11) server several
times. The installation completes without any warnings, but after
reboot the
Kernel of HP-UX is corrupted and the server crashes down.
When I contacted our reseller they were unable to find out the problem,
and
they advised us to install firewall on an NT Server, explaining that
CheckPoint would not be supporting HP-UX in coming releases.
Do you think that it's a rumour or real? Also feedback from HP-UX users
will
be welcome.
Thanks in advance.
