Michael, The status GUI uses the FW1_MGMT port, in exactly the same way that the log viewer and policy editor do (because it is just a mode for that application). If you are running it on a designated management client machine, then you should see any alerts that are raised. Alerts are generated if something happens that is configured to track as alert. This means one of: - packets matching a rule with track=alert - an event occurring which is set to alert by policy properties. As an example of a property-related alert, we have user authentication failures reported using ALERT, because the Authentication property has Authentication failure track = ALERT -- Timothy Frost mailto:[email protected] EDS New Zealand Fax: +64-4-495-0473 8 Gilmer Terrace Phone: +64-4-495-0504 P O Box 3647 Wellington New Zealand > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [SMTP:[email protected]] > Sent: Thursday, December 28, 2000 5:17 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [FW1] Fwalert... > > > Hi! > Does anyone know what service is used on a standalone FW1, when the > management-module sends > alerts to the (System Staus) GUI ?? > My problem is that I don't get any alert popups, and I guess it depends > on a missing rule alowing > the FW1 to connect to the GUI. > > Regards > Mikael Johnsson > > > > ========================================================================== > ====== > To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at > http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html > ========================================================================== > ====== ================================================================================ To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================================================
