RE: [FW1] CheckPoint Customer Log Module

Title: CheckPoint Customer Log Module
Hi,

There are few things to note about the CLM

on the $FWDIR/conf/loggers file do not use any plus signs before the IP address of the clm, just enter the IP address.  Using a @ sign before an ip will enable alerts only to go the that address if you have an additional logging host.

do a putkey between the CLM machine (Either Firewall or host) and other enforcement modules

ensure you have setup gui-clients and users so you can point the log viewer to the IP of the CLM and connect

Note that if your CLM is on another host to the host that has the management station on it, when you load
the policy and select log viewer - it will not point you to the correct log file. (hopefully checkpoint will fix this soon)

Hope this helps
Inti.

I installed this product and it's running fine.
Just install as a seperate management console.
install licence, this enable only "logging" on this machine.
create $FWDIR/conf/logger file on fw modules and reboot them.
That's all

Hope thishelps, regards

Feridun

Subject: [FW1] CheckPoint Customer Log Module

My reseller was telling me about a fairly cheap product that CheckPoint sells called the 'Customer Log Module.'  And from what I gathered it would make it so the logging server could be separated off to my enterprise management console to a completely separate system by itself and I would just point to that when I wanted to look at and utilize logs.  At first glance I could not find anything on CheckPoints site about this...

Does any use or have any experience with this product that they can share?

Jarrett
