RE: [FW1] Blocking Attachments

Title: RE: [FW1] Blocking Attachments

Norton AntiVirus for Internet Email Gateways, not Norton for Exchange Server, and yes, it does have the capability of not only checking attachments for virus', but also blocking certain attachments by extension.  Not only that, but it will look into zip files as well.  In other words, I have mine set up to block exe, com, vbs, vbe, bat, cmd and shs files and if you try and zip up an exe and send it to me I will get your message, but the attachment will be replaced with a little text file that indicates the attachment has been removed.

I use Norton AntiVirus for Internet Email Gateways and Exchange Server and
it has proven to be a very effective solution.  Right now I am on 1.0
(yikes!).  I just received the new release but have not implemented it yet.

I'm looking for ways to block emails with certain attachments. I would like
to return to sender any email with a .exe extension. We are using MS
Exchange here, is there a way of filtering email at the firewall? Now, I am
not looking for a way to filter known viruses, I want to stop certain file
attachments and let the sender know that it happened.
