Mike, Actually, you might want to pause before you whack the box. If your current license is a FIG-250 (or VIG-250) as it sounds, you will have a problem. The FIG license will look something like "stdlight250", and the VIG will have the encryption pieces " vpnstrong enc250 ca" or similar. FIGs and VIGs cannot have separate management stations. They must always be local, on the same machine as the firewall. Even if you reinstall without the mgmt station, it will not accept a remote master. This also explains why you couldn't get it to work before with the remote enterprise console. If you are decided that you want the enterprise console to manage this firewall, then you want to change your FIG license to a FM license (simply a Firewall Module). You should talk to your vendor and see if you can just upgrade(almost seems like a downgrade??) your FIG to FM. Any good vendor can handle this. The FM might even be cheaper than the FIG so maybe it will be free or at little cost. Ive also got an enterprise console. With Internet GW the managment console and FW module are on the same box obvoisly. If I reinstal just the FW module for the Inet GW, will it be a problem with the liesencing. Can I use the enterprise console to manage it. Should be no problem right? just want to make sure before I wack the box. And NO....I cant manage from the enterprise console as long as the inet gw has a mangment console installed....I've tried everything... Thanks so much for any information. -Mike Michael Chang Senior Network Engineer Vertis, [email protected] ============================================================================ ==== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ============================================================================ ==== ================================================================================ To unsubscribe from this mailing list, please see the instructions at http://www.checkpoint.com/services/mailing.html ================================================================================
