RE: [FW1] backup firewall

I would do the following.

    1.  Build another box, doesn't have to be identical in hardware, but should have the same about of memory /
         harddrive space
    2.  Setup Checkpoint on that machine (it should have same ip address for licensing and such.).
    3.  Copy all of the database and rules files from your current machine to this new one.
    4.  Do a test run of this machine during downtime to ensure that it works
    5.  Make sure that any changes to your production machine also get made on the cold swap.

What version of Fw-1 is this?
On what platform?
Distributed system? or standalone?

If you want a list of the files to move and or a more exact process of how to move it, drop me a line.

Subject: [FW1] backup firewall

Currently I have a single firewall in place. If my system board fails, then I am dead in the water
and so are my users. I would like to ask the list on tactics used to create a backup firewall. In case the
main firewall does down, I can quickly place the backup firewall in place in a minimum amount of time.
