All, Earlier there was a posting about the Windows 2000 version of VPN-1/FireWall-1/FloodGate-1 being available. The link posted proved to be incorrect. The correct location to pull down ANY full function software by Check Point is to go to the link http://www.checkpoint.com/techsupport/downloads/downloads.html You will need to have a current Software Subscription which provides a username/password for logging in to this page. Check Point Software partners are also given a login to use for this purpose. The VPN + Strong file is 9.12M and the Release notes are available there as well. If your looking for the same combo of VPN-1/FireWall-1/FloodGate-1 you will need to download the VPN-1/FireWall-1 then download FloodGate-1. If you have a valid Software Subscription and no username/password for logging on to Check Point sites then please check with your internal staff first, it maybe with a person other than yourself. I found that it was not very helpful and the link does not go where it states it should. I am contacting someone to find out the details and will let you all know Charlie -----Original Message----- From: Tim Anderson [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, November 22, 2000 3:24 PM To: Carlene VanHorn; [email protected]; [email protected] Subject: RE: [FW1] Installing CP2000 v4.12 on NT2000 We have installed the official Checkpoint version of FW-1 for Windows 2000. It is available from Checkpoint's Web Site and is officially supported by Checkpoint. There is also a patch for the GUI to run on Windows 2000. The install runs fine but so far we have not been able to get our brand new IBM Netfinity with Win2K to run for over 10-12 hours without crashing. We actually loaded 2 machines, one gives a Blue Screen after about 10 hours and the other just stops allowing traffic through after about the same amount of time. After a reboot they will run for about another 12 hours or so. We have not received much from Checkpoint as to what they think the cause is and our Security Company (Fishnet) has done very little testing with Windows 2000 and their response to our problems was "you guys may have jumped the gun trying to use Windows 2000". We gave up trying after a couple days and reverted to our old NT 4.0 machine that runs fairly well aside from the normal Dr. Watson errors that seem to plague FW-1. Hope this helps! The Windows 2000 version will be coming near future. Some programs can run if installed from the directory but if the program itself requires a certain version of NT it will halt the install. It may sound wishy washy but honestly, the programs were developed for NT so where W2K matches NT then you should be ok but it's not 100% supported. It is the install shield which will stop an install from the autorun function. Meta IP can be installed if you go directly to :\windows\CPMetaIP-41\CPmip-41\Setup.exe. The GUI can be run from :\windows\CPMgmtClnt-41. I have personally installed a 4.1 SP1 directly to a 2000 server and it seems to run ok in a test environment. Good Luck! I have CP 2000 Enterprise w/Firewall-1, MetaIP, and Floodgate. I go to install the software and it says that I cannot install on NT 2000, but that I can manually install on NT2000. Going through the archives of this list it looks like many of you have been able to install the software onto NT2000 Question 1) I have paid for Gold Support. Will CP support me on NT 2000? Question 2) Will all of the software work on NT 2000? I see mixed responses. Some say that the GUI doesn't work, while others do. What about Flood Gate and Meta IP? Question 3) When will CP officially fully support NT 2000 server?
