Subject: RE: [FW1] Exporting
logs...
From
Phoneboy,
Q: In the log viewer, when I
try and open a log file, I get the following error message:
lvfile_open: failed to open logfile
c:\winnt\fw\log\fw.log log ptrs problem
A: Remove $FWDIR/log/*.logptr
and $FWDIR/log/*.alogptr.
Lars Troen suggests that
these files sometimes get corrupted before and/or after daylight savings time.
I
would imagine this would only be a problem on NT systems since all Unix
filetimes are stored as the
number of seconds since the epoch, which does
not change as a result of daylight savings time. However,
the log pointer
files do occasionally get corrupt on Unix management consoles as well and can
be safely
removed.
I
would say remove the .logptr file (in your case,
05Oct2000-00:01:09.logptr) and try the command again.

Exporting logs...
Yeah, that's almost what I
did, but I got an error like :
[root@io temp] fw logexport -i
"/opt/CPfw1-41/log/05Oct2000-00:01:09.log" -o ./testlog.txt
lvfile_open:
failed to open logfile /opt/CPfw1-41/log/05Oct2000-00:01:09.log log ptrs
problem
Aborting.
I'm sorta lost
:)

If they are in the .log format, you can do
"fw logexport -i oldlogs.log -o
oldlogs.txt"
Obviously, -i inputfile = The name of the
input Log file
-o outputfile = The name of the
output ASCII file
Also, a "-n" added will speed up the processing
by disabling DNS resolution of the IPs in the log
file.
Hi fellows,
I got a little problem,
this is... I have to export 2 months of logs I switched daily and
tarred.gzipped. How can I export all these logs which are still in
the log form to a text form ?
thank ya for your
help,
