RE: [FW1] SecuRemote license woes

Their system is inefficient, no doubt about that!
Try manipulating a license recently:
"
Step 2 : User Information
We are sorry but our license server is down.
Please try to issue the license later.
"
(from http://license.checkpoint.com/cgi-bin/enduser
for several hours recently, Sun 11-05-2000.)

I think the point he was trying to make was that it shouldn't be as
problematic as it is. Should you really have to read faqs and
whitepapers to
license your product? Cmon

Well, licensing does require brain cells. If you read the faqs etc, it's
all
really quite easy.

Why the @#$(%28$#%@#$*&% do they do this? I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE
the
CheckPoint licensing scheme, architecture, etc., etc. I have never ever
had an interaction with CheckPoint having to do with licensing that
didn't
take weeks to resolve. If the component is free, why doesn't it just
work
when I have a vpnstrong license that allows it to be free? Why make me
jump through more hoops just to get something that the software should
ALREADY know I am licensed for? THis is the most brain-dead setup I've
ever heard of?

And on that note, why do WE put up with all of this crap? I have heard
sooooo many people complaining about CheckPoint licensing fiascos. I
certainly would never ever purchase a CheckPoint product again after the
hideous experiences I've had with licensing. Nothing is worth this
nightmare.

(I'm currently stuck between a 4.0 installation that has an expired
license, and a 4.1 installation with a permanent license, but no
SEcuRemote license yet.... and I've got remote users just hanging in the
wind. Not to mention that they've screwed up my software subscription,
and I've suddenly lost access to all of the download areas.)
