RE:[FW1] Applying SP2 for Checkpoint

Title: RE:[FW1] Applying SP2 for Checkpoint

Hi Roland,

Yep, use fwstop before applying the patch. Also reboot the system once you have completed the patch. If it is an enforcement point you may also want to verify that the rc scripts have been installed properly. When I applied the patch it did not update the S25fw1boot (in rcS.d) and S00fw1bootd (in rc2.d). If you want to verify the file type sum S25fw1boot (obviously while in the appropriate directory) and sum S00fw1bootd. This command should return 26111 6 S25fw1boot & 9002 4 S00fw1bootd  respectively. If they do not you can get the SP2 versions in you patch directory under "temp directory you created"/CPFWSP410002-01/CPfw1-41/reloc/boot

Hope this helps

Ryan

Subject: [FW1] Applying SP2 for Checkpoint

When applying this service pack 2 for Checkpoint v4.1 on SUN Solaris 2.6, do you
need to fwstop the firewall in order to apply the pack.  Then fwstart
afterwards.  I only ask because the install instructions do not saying anything
about this.  They basically state that you run the patchadd command on the SP2
directory and thats it.

Thanks...  Roland
