RE: [FW1] How to eliminate the dns time-out for slow telnet conne ction?

If you have an internal-only DNS server, add an entry in /etc/resolv.conf on
the Sun Box.

Subject: [FW1] How to eliminate the dns time-out for slow telnet
connection?

We have some firewalls (Sun) that resolve dns using external dns servers.
Whenever
we telnet to the firewalls from a private network, we have to wait for the
reverse
look-up to time-out. I have read (phoneboy) that I can avoid the time-out by
adding
host file entries, but this seems like it would only work on a node by node
basis
and I would like to resolve it for our entire private network. Does anyone
have any
suggestions?
Bill
