If you use the Intel Teaming drivers the 4 ports get bonded into a virtual adapter
that can use FEC if you have a Cisco Switch (I have a HP ProCurve that supports FEC too, btw).

In this case, you have one virtual adapter/interface.

I haven't heard about any teaming drivers for Solaris.

Intel has been pretty bad about providing support for Linux, Solaris etc. 
Yeah, there are drivers but they do not have all the features of the "WinTel" ones.
You don't get VLAN's, you don't get ISL, and last I checked you don't get Teaming/AFT/LB.
(yeah, there is some dude that came out with a poor vlan driver for linux, good luck...I hear it's not good.)
