[FW1] FW-1 Rule Base

Hi all

i have installed my rule base, that enables my GUI machine

GUI , FW-1 , any , accept , short
any , any , any , drop , short

now i can connect to the firewall , 
now when i telnet onto the firewall ,

and then i try and ping the route that the firewall connected to , it does not 
ping, and i can't ping out to the internet , but when i stop the firewall , i 
can do all this.

the rulebase tells me ,

destination  , , FW-1 , reject.

what am i doing wrong , i have disabled the pseudo rule, will this matter.
