Re: [FW1] Firewall

Have you ever heard about the methods that MS Proxy uses to knit connections together in it's
NAT implementation? It's not very secure, especially if you make some guesses about the LAT.

As a matter of a fact, why do people assume that NAT equals security?
I know a lot of companies selling "personal firewalls" will try to pursuade you into thinking
that their NAT box is as good as a packet filter, but this is far from true.

Packet filters (firewalls) and proxies are two completely different beasts.
Firewalls may "proxy" requests being made just to broker the security of the sessions, but
they aren't really "proxy" servers.

You certainly can use FW1 with MSProxy.
Yes, you need a firewall....once you install one and properly configure it, you will see exactly
why it is that you need one.

4 years ago it didn't seem this bad, it's getting much worse now.
