[FW1] Problems with non-passive FTP

We are having problems with a new firewall installation (4.1 SP2
running on an Ultra 5/Solaris 7 with August patches). Passive FTP is
working OK in both directions but normal-mode FTP fails either from an
internal client to an internet server or from an internet client to an
internal server.

An FTP connection can be made but as soon as a 'dir' command is
issued the connection is closed by the remote server. Running snoop on
the firewall shows that the server sends a RESET immediately following
the PORT command. In this case the internal FTP server is a Solaris
box. Nothing is seen in the firewall logs apart from the initial
connection.

Normal and passive FTP worked fine before the firewall was installed,
I'm not sure whether this is down to the new behaviour of SP2 or is
older than that. 'Enable FTP PORT Data Connections' and 'Enable FTP
PASV Data Connections' are both ticked in the Properties section, and
I have already tried commenting out #define FTP_ENFORCE_NL in base.def
to no effect.

Any/all ideas will be very gratefully received!

Steve Hindmarsh
